In that previous post I mentioned finding that jaguar coffee table by the dumpster at our apartments. Let me tell you how it works at that place. It seems like when there is a big turn over in renters that a lot of stuff gets chunked. Most of it is crap, but every now and then someone will have to part with furniture or things that are perfectly good, some still in the boxes. Why they don't take it to the Goodwill I have no idea. I guess too lazy. Anyway rather than throw these things into the dumpster they will
set them beside it. Usually someone will come along and snag it too. Other than pulling things to make "art" the only furniture that I have picked up were two wicker bar stools and a school desk from around the 1930s. I looked that desk up on eBay and the same desks were listing between 80 to 200 bucks. Gave it to one of our nieces. Anyway sort of interesting that a 'dumpster culture' has evolved. Remember this is a universtity town and also there are a lot of military and young, professional families in the area.
On a related note, Christie works for a property management company and you would be amazed at the brand new shit that the college kids leave behind when they move. I'm talking kitchen appliances still boxed to furniture to you name it. That can simply be chalked up to being a rich, spoon fed, clueless college boy/girl. If that sounds harsh you should see some of these foolios up close and personal. Spoiled brats.
