Saga of the Bowling Pins

One of the girls I work with has a boyfriend who is into bowling. I told them a while back that if they would get me some old bowling pins I'd paint them up for them. I had shown her the Queen Pin Deluxe website and we had discussed. Originally I was going to "bite" on those. Maybe not exactly like the Queen Pin stuff, but very inspired by those designs. Anyway I held onto the pins for a few months and I finally got around to working on them. By the time I got ready to work on them I decided that "pin up" might not be the way to go. I decided to turn Abby's pin into a pink dog. For her boyfriend Andy I went with a tattoo inspired motif. I won't go into great detail about the ups and downs I went through making these things, but the most fucked up thing happened after I "thought" they were all finished and done. It was all my fault, but what happened was this. To speed up the process, for the very final detail touches, I used a permanent marker rather than paint. It bit me in the ass. When I applied the clear epoxy, it reacted with the marker and it ran. You can see by the photo which one it is. Soooo I went back and totally re-painted it and re-sealed it over the weekend. Actually the second painting looked better than the first becuase the detail I got with the fine brush was better than the sharpie anyway. Lesson learned. Anyway all fun except for that part.
