Gimme Shelter

Tonight (Friday, Jan. 14th, 2010) I wanted to blow a smoke and since it was so windy and rainy on the front porch I relocated to my nice, dry Shed/Bar® in the back yard. I had the laptop out there watching vidcasts and listening to a couple of podcasts... anywho... as I was standing there smoking and drinking I was looking around in the dim light and noticed our 8 person tent hanging on a nail. This fucking thing is the size of a duffle bag... but once you throw it up it can literally sleep 8 people. It has three rooms. We haven't used it in a couple of years or more. Anyway it dawned on me that I own a Russian Nesting doll collection of shelter... the house... the shed... the American size tent. Now the house would be considered a mansion in any third world country... the shed would be prized in Mexico City as a middle class home... and the tent would come off as opulent in a place like Haiti right about now. I hate to beat a fucking dead horse... but ummmmm... man we ain't hurting stateside. You got your health and live a comfortable middle class life... you really gots it made people. Really.

word. truer words were never spoken. we need to quit bitching about bullshit and thank our lucky stars we weren't born in Cambodia or Burma. I highly recommend traveling or volunteering in the Third World to appreciate how good we have it here.
